| Karl Pawley has a very substantial track record over 20 years heading up major technology companies. His reputation as one of the brilliant engineering minds in the technology sector is well established. He joined emuse as the first employee working along with Patrick Rainsford developing the concept for interactive television. He is currently the VP Operations where he oversees Engineering, Quality, IT and HR.
Prior to joining emuse Karl was Operations Director with another of Patrick's companies MV Technology. The company aim was to produce large capital equipment machines for the inspection of circuit boards primarily for the burgeoning mobile phone market. He was instrumental in growing the company from 11 staff to in excess of 150, he put in the MIS, Quality, Engineering design, Customer support, HR and Production. The company received full ISO 9001 certification in 1998, and expanded its customer base worldwide under Karl's guidance. Following successful negotiations with Agilent (the devolved arm of HP) the company was sold for greater than $100 million in cash.
In 1986 he joined Lightband Communications also founded by Patrick Rainsford and his business partner Peter Conlon. In his role as Head of Engineering he architected and designed the high bandwidth multi-i/o vision switcher along with the high bandwidth linear distribution amplifiers required to deliver signals over long lengths of coax cable. Lightband became one of the leading suppliers for the dealing room market with installations in major trading rooms all over the world.
Karl has held high profile positions as a telecommunications engineer with GEC in Coventry, a studio engineer with the BBC in London, a hardware and software designer with the National Electricity Board, and a managerial role with Lake Communications. In all cases Karl brought his innovative engineering skills to these positions.
Karl holds an honours degree in Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin.
